Frequently Asked Questions
Bass Bandit Boats can be picked up in Stacy, MN 55079, or we can arrange delivery or shipping. All shipping fees need to be paid prior to the boat leaving the facility.
As previously mentioned on this site, the US Coast Guard passed everything they could throw at the boat. They were tested for stability and flotation. They put a #1500+ pound steel block in the boat. The USCG said when they do this, the boat will either sink or break, like many other boats they test. The steel weight was lowered into the boat, and at that point, it only put a smile on their faces. After more in-depth testing, they said, "Whatever you're doing, keep doing it." The USCG testers were very impressed with our boat and it passed Coast Guard testing on the first try.
Supervision and discretion should always be a # 1 concern as a parent or guardian. This boat was Coast Guard approved as a one-person boat. If you have children who want to fish too, you may have to buy a boat for each of them or take turns using the Bass Bandit Boat.
This boat was designed to be able to access areas where large boats can't reach. The boat could be used anywhere you are comfortable boating. Like all boats, the Bass Bandit Boat has limits. It was not designed to tackle large swells or shark fishing. You need to be familiar with any boat before heading out on the water. The biggest call for these boats is from states that don't allow gas motors on their lakes, for example in California. Florida is another one that enjoys our compact boat. People that have them have told us that the first thing in the morning, they grab a cup of coffee and cruise the man made-canals. That sounds relaxing!

- Explain the maximum capacity and maximum horsepower.
- Most boaters (myself included) believed that a maximum capacity, such as " Four Persons or 530 pounds", is the point beyond which a boat is likely to become unstable or will capsize. It seems obvious that the maximum horsepower rating is to keep us from speeding out of control with an oversized engine and, since these ratings are mandated by the U.S. Coast Guard, it's a logical assumption that these capacities are the result of their testing. Wrong on all counts!
- First, the maximum capacity is actually the number of people (or their total weight) that the boat will safely support if it is SWAMPED, meaning filled with water. Second, the horsepower rating has nothing to do with speed. "Horsepower has only to do with weight," says Philip Cappel of the Coast Guard. "We're not so much concerned about the speed but that the boat will float upright if swamped so that people can hold on to it until rescued. That's the whole reason for the flotation standard and why we say how many people can be on board. Horsepower only has to do with engine weight. If you put too big an engine on a boat, you throw the flotation off." Last, the manufacturers set the Coast Guard capacity maximum, which they reach using an accepted formula, and they also determine the horsepower since they know how much engine weight will still allow their boat to float level.
